Dean of Enrollment - The Lawrenceville School

  • Job Description:
    DEAN OF ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
    Lawrenceville, New Jersey

The Lawrenceville School (Lawrenceville), a premier coeducational boarding and day school serving students in grades 9 through 12, seeks an innovative and experienced admissions leader and strategist to serve as its next Dean of Enrollment Management. Lawrenceville is ranked among the top five private high schools in the nation by Niche and consistently included among the most prestigious and rigorous schools in the United States. The Dean of Enrollment Management will have the tremendous opportunity to set vision and strategy for admissions and financial aid at this distinguished independent school and will see the impact of that work, both immediately and long-term, embodied in the School’s vibrant and diverse community. Founded in 1810, Lawrenceville has evolved over two centuries from a boys’ school to a proudly diverse and distinguished community of more than 800 students from 33 states and 45 countries. As one of the oldest boarding schools in the nation, the Lawrenceville of today remains committed to its rich history and traditions while remaining ever focused on its future. The School’s approximately 350 employees, including 109 full-time teaching faculty, deliver a first-rate educational, residential, and co-curricular experience, and students leave prepared to succeed in college and beyond as engaged citizens and thoughtful leaders. The School has enjoyed strong and stable leadership, enabling it to thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape with steady enrollment numbers and strong financial outlook. For the current academic year, Lawrenceville’s operating budget is $60 million and the School’s endowment is $400 million.

The Dean of Enrollment Management reports directly to the Head Master and will serve as the School’s strategic admissions and financial aid leader responsible for long-term enrollment strategies developed through data-driven market analysis, effective communications, and the careful stewardship of prospective students and families through the application and admission process. The Dean is expected to ensure the continued academic, athletic, and co-curricular excellence of the School’s student body through recruitment and enrollment practices informed by the School’s strategic priorities. The Dean will oversee a dedicated and talented staff of 18 admission and financial aid professionals and sit on the School’s principal administrative committee. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated success in admission and financial aid management, and an in-depth understanding of the trends and forces shaping independent school admissions. The Dean must possess exceptional analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, and be committed to the School’s values of excellence and dedication to diversity, access, and student success. Significant experience in education, either at the secondary school level or in higher education, is essential. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred. The Lawrenceville School has retained Isaacson, Miller, a national executive search firm, to assist in the recruitment of its next Dean of Enrollment Management. Inquiries, nominations/referrals, and resumes with one to two-page cover letters, should be directed to the search firm in confidence at: www.imsearch.com/6471. Lawrenceville, in the treatment of employees and applicants for employment, is committed to a policy of equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination.
