4th & 5th Grade Math Teacher - Misk Schools

  • Job Description:
    The MiSK Schools is a two-year old, state-of-the-art school, in Riyadh, building a maker-centric culture that embraces the best of progressive practices foundational to project based and experiential learning. We are an entrepreneurial culture devoted to producing the next generation of innovators, inventors, artists, leaders and globally minded citizens in SA. We are looking for educators devoted to redefining teaching and learning, who want to be part of a journey of writing history. We are seeking to recruit a fourth and fifth Grade Math-teacher for our Middle School. The teacher reports to the Elementary/Middle School Principal.  

    DUTIES:
    • Provides learning experiences while creating an environment that is conducive to student learning and involvement;
    • Monitors students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate;
    • Evaluates, utilizes innovative approaches, and refines instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies available to teachers such as interactive boards, to increase student learning, involvement, and confidence to learn for the social, emotional, and academic well – being;
    • Demonstrates appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individuals and strives to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning;
    • Demonstrates positive and effective classroom management skills;
    • Maintains and improves professional competence through attendance of professional development events;
    • Shares responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of his/her grade /team/ department;
    • Collaborates with subject area specialists (art, music, steam, library, P.E./) to design and implement curriculum;
    • Develops curriculum based on children's developmental capacities and needs and current understanding of mathematics and interdisciplinary curriculum development;
    • Plans for student field trips that are aligned with the existing curriculum;
    • Leads Math Clubs and provide opportunities for students to engage in mathematics experiences and competitions beyond the school;
    • Fulfills duties (recess, lunch supervision, etc.) as assigned and serving on all-school committees as requested or desired;
    • Other duties, as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • A deep knowledge of and passion for mathematics, a proven record of excellence in teaching, a broad understanding of the way quantitative reasoning informs and augments critical reasoning, and an appreciation for problem-based, student centered pedagogy
    • Teaching License or equivalent in Elementary Education;
    • Academic degrees from an accredited University/College in Elementary Education; • At least two years of relevant teaching experience, required;
    • Familiarity with a wide range of teaching approaches and strategies
    • An understanding of differentiated learning
    • An understanding of the math learning continuum from PK-5
    • An understanding of child development including experience with elementary and middle school -aged students
    • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both orally and written, in English to students (native speaker fluency required);
    • Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies.
